Making Big Opera with a Small Footprint
Unpacking Opera North’s Green Season
This event has passed.
As Storm Babet raged in the UK – a powerful reminder of the climate crisis – it was curtains up on Opera North’s Green Season.
In this 90-minute webinar hear from Opera North, the Theatre Green Book and SAIL (Sustainable Arts in Leeds) about how this groundbreaking season came to fruition and learn from the people who made it happen.
Opera North performed its first full sustainable season in an ambitious and progressive programme guided by the Theatre Green Book. All three operas shared scenic elements to create interlinked yet distinctive designs, enabling Opera North to reduce its use of materials. Almost all sets, props and costumes were sourced from previous productions or purchased second-hand.
During the webinar, we will also explore the range of audience initiatives including travel apps, more matinee performances and digital programmes, which were introduced to reduce the audience carbon footprint.
This sharing is designed for leaders and professionals working in arts and cultural organisations with an interest in working more sustainably.
Once you have booked your free place, details of how to join and the webinar link will be sent by email. Please book before Thursday 15 February.
