Brundibár Schools' Matinee

Suitable for KS2-3

7 February

This event has passed.

The Opera North Youth Company is proud to present the schools’ matinee of Brundibár. An opera written for children by Jewish composer Hans Krása in 1938, it it tells the story of two children whose plan to help their sick mother pits them against an evil organ-grinder.

The schools’ matinee performance is open to primary (Year 5-6) and secondary (KS3) schools. The performance will last for approximately 40 minutes and will be performed in English. Schools have the option of booking for a matinee performance only, or a pre-performance workshop at Opera North on the day of the matinee and the matinee performance. Please note workshop spaces are very limited at 30 pupil places per workshop and will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

Workshops are run in partnership with the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre, Huddersfield. For any schools based in or near to Huddersfield, they can arrange to book a workshop to take place at the Holocaust Exhibition and Learning Centre in advance of the performance date – please email helc@hud.ac.uk directly in order to arrange this. Please note that if you chose this option, you will still need to book your tickets to the matinee performance via Opera North.

An accompanying resource pack will be available to all participating schools.

To book, or if you have further enquiries, please contact: schools@operanorth.co.uk.
