Celebrating a new production of Carmen on Opera North’s mainstage, American singer Chrystal E. Williams (singing Carmen) and Brazilian-Italian soprano Camila Titinger (playing the role of Micaëla), perform songs of rebellion, change and determination.

Expect jazz, spiritual and popular song as well as classical and opera for this Sunday afternoon special.

About the artists

Camila Titinger

Camila Titinger is an Italian-Brazilian soprano. She was recently a member of the Centre Perfeccionament Plácido Domingo at Les Arts in Valencia. In 2018 she was invited to perform with Domingo in concerts in Ljubljana, Strasbourg, and Boston. In 2019 she made her UK debut as Donna Anna Don Giovanni (Garsington) and represented Brazil in the final of the Cardiff Singer of the World competition. She makes her Opera North debut this season as Micaela in Carmen.

Chrystal E. Williams

Chrystal E. Williams is an American mezzo-soprano, born in Portsmouth, Virginia. She made multiple house debuts in the 2020-2021 season, including at Minnesota Opera as the Stewardess in Jonathan Dove’s Flight, and Seattle Opera and Pittsburgh Opera as Rebecca Parker in Charlie Parker’s Yardbird, a role she created with Opera Philadelphia and has since sung with numerous companies both in the US and UK. She makes her Opera North debut this season in the title role of Carmen.
