Danish bassist Jasper Høiby leads his 3Elements trio through a set of high-energy, contemporary jazz built on sharp intuition and rhythmic drive.
Jasper Høiby’s 3Elements trio performs music from their third album, Conversations of Hope. As a founding member of the group Phronesis – a band that spent years redefining the modern piano trio, Høiby continues to centre his work around collective momentum and structured risk.
The ensemble features Spanish pianist Xavi Torres and drummer Naíma Acuña, creating a sound that is physically urgent – marked by clear melodic ideas that weave through shifting time signatures. The music balances driving energy with a thoughtful use of space, allowing for a constant, fluid dialogue between the performers.
In Conversations of Hope, released on Edition Records, the trio moves with a shared instinct. Acuña’s detailed percussion and Torres’ precise piano language lock in with Høiby’s double bass to create a performance that feels alert and evolving. A focused display of modern musicianship – where technical clarity supports a direct and reactive connection between the three players.

“Høiby fashions his pieces so the lines between freedom and form are beautifully blurred – everything belongs, nothing is forced.” – MOJO
