Liberty Lecture: Nazir Afzal OBE The Prosecutor

Thursday 24 February 2022

This event has passed.

Join us for a fascinating and important talk from Nazir Afzal OBE.

As the former Chief Crown Prosecutor for North West England, it was his job to make sure the most complex, violent and harrowing crimes made it to court, and that their perpetrators were convicted.

From violence against women and girls to child sexual abuse and honour-based violence, he has been at the forefront of some of the most high-profile cases in the country during his 24-year career. Afzal’s critically-acclaimed memoir, The Prosecutor, published in 2020, is currently being adapted for a British multipart drama and his BBC R4 Desert Island Discs was the 2nd most listened to in 2021.

Iyiola Solanke, Professor of EU Law and Social Justice in the School of Law, University of Leeds, will chair the talk.
