Howard Assembly Room
The Howard Assembly Room is temporarily closing its doors for our major Music Works redevelopment, reopening in 2020 with more thrilling music and performance in the heart of Leeds.

A spotlight comes on; a single performer is illuminated and begins to play. What do you do?
Not normally a question you ask yourself at a classical music concert, beyond trying not to cough. But in this special Light Night installation, traditional ideas of performance space and audience are turned upside-down.
Four musicians play some of J. S. Bach’s most beautiful solo music, whilst audience members decide where to sit, how to listen, and when to leave.
Set in a strange landscape of chairs, chaises longs and deck chairs, the effect is captivating.
