The beauty of the soprano voice is brought dramatically to the fore in this series of songs performed by Opera North regulars, singer Máire Flavin and pianist David Cowan.

Together, they will treat the audience to some of their favourite works for voice from composers such as Dowland, Purcell and Schubert. At the heart of the programme is Mahler’s Rückert-Lieder, five songs based on poems by Friedrich Rückert, which marked a turning point in the composer’s musical journey after he survived a near-death experience.
