PJ Harvey with Ian Duhig

Orlam: A Conversation

Friday 28 October 2022

This event has passed.

In this spoken-word, non-music event, PJ Harvey will recite poems from her new book, and joins in conversation with renowned British poet Ian Duhig.

Orlam reveals PJ Harvey as a gifted poet – whose formal skill, transforming eye and ear for the lyric line has produced a strange and moving poem like no other. Orlam is not only a remarkable coming-of-age tale, but the first full-length book written in the Dorset dialect for many decades.

“When I’ve read the ending of a great poem, I catch my breath… In my own poems, I don’t want to tell people what to feel. I want to open the doorway so they can find out for themselves.”
– PJ Harvey, interviewed in The Guardian
