Roberto Fonseca

This event has passed.

Havana-born pianist, multi-instrumentalist, composer and conductor Roberto Fonseca returns to the Howard Assembly Room with his 9th solo album YESUN – combining everything from jazz and classical music to rap, funk, reggaeton and electronica, ripping up the rulebook along the way.

Fonseca has established himself as one of the most gifted and popular pianists of his generation. After making his name in the legendary Buena Vista Social Club, and a Grammy nomination for Best Latin Jazz Album, he’s come to incarnate the meeting between jazz with the music of Cuba, both today and yesterday, and also its African roots.

Fonseca is joined on stage by regular bandmates, drummer Ruly Herrera and long-time double bassist Yandy Rodriguez.

“a fabulously gifted pianist, composer and bandleader with a gift for melody that outshines more celebrated peers.”
