The Shape of Sound

This event has passed.

Opera North’s Chorus of 36 voices illuminates the architecture of the Howard Assembly Room in this specially choreographed and immersive performance.

A specially curated programme of contrasting early and twentieth century music explores the ability of sound to transform and affect space. Bringing together the early polyphony of William Byrd with the minimalism of Arvo Pärt and John Cage, this is a celebration of the sculptural power and enduring mystery of the human voice.
