A vocal project for people living with chronic lung conditions (including COPD and ILD) and associated anxiety and depression.

Launched in January 2026, Sing ON: Inspire is Opera North’s new singing programme for people with chronic respiratory conditions. It provides a relaxed, supportive and welcoming space for individuals to explore breathwork, meditative exercises, vocal massage, gentle movement, and singing. Session content will draw inspiration both from the work of Opera North and the interests of participants themselves.

Led by vocal animateur Marie Claire Breen, and an Opera North pianist, workshops take place in weekly blocks of six sessions at The Old Fire Station, Gipton, a excellent community space with good access.

All sessions include refreshments.

This project is run in partnership with Leeds NHS Local Care Partnerships and Leeds Community Healthcare Respiratory Service. Opera North is also in ongoing consultation with Asthma and Lung UK.
