Young Performers Studio Showcase

Join us for a special evening as our eight Young Performers take to the stage for their final recital of the year, presenting a diverse programme from Mozart to Machoncy. Each singer will be accompanied by Opera North’s Assistant Head of Music, Annette Saunders.

The Opera North Young Performers Studio supports dedicated young singers aged 16-21 on their journeys to studying at conservatoire, with full bursaries provided to those who may otherwise face access or financial barriers.Under the guidance of Marie Claire Breen, Opera North’s Vocal Animateur, participants receive specialist 1:1 vocal coaching and participate in masterclasses with leading opera professionals over the course of a year.

Recently, our Young Performers impressed at the Mrs Sunderland Festival, returning with a host of prizes in classes ranging from French song to Musical Theatre. In the 2nd year of the programme, we’re delighted that two of our young singers have been awarded places to study at Conservatoire this autumn – a wonderful milestone in their journeys and testament to their hard work and growth as artists.
