Five Top Tips for Families

Searching for the perfect family day out this summer? Take a trip to see The Sound of Music at Leeds Grand Theatre! It’s a classic story loved across the generations sure to keep both kids and adults entertained, and packed full of bangers that’ll have you singing the whole way home.

Here are our five top tips for families looking to book tickets to this classic musical…

1. Save with a family ticket deal

We think this show is great for anyone over the age of 8, and families can save with a special ticket deal: £130 for 2 adults and 2 children in band C seats.

That’s a saving of approximately 25%, with band C seats available across all areas of the theatre. Choose your seats, select 2 adult and 2 child tickets, and the family deal price will apply automatically in the checkout when booking online. Or give our friendly Box office team a ring on 0113 223 3600.

Upgrade your experience for an extra £10 per person: choose band B seats and pay £170 for the family deal.

Looking to book another price band? Child tickets are always £10 off the standard price.

Whether you’re travelling by bus, train or car, Leeds Grand Theatre is easy to reachIt’s a 15minute walk from the train station, 5-10 minutes from bus stops to the city centre, and there are lots of nearby car parks to choose from. National Rail offer half-price train tickets for children aged 515 on most journeys, plus further discounts with a Family & Friends Railcard. Or you can make use of WY Metro‘s Family DaySaver for unlimited off-peak bus and train travel anywhere in West Yorkshire.

3. Grab a bite to eat nearby

Leeds City Centre is full of places to eat to keep hungry mouths fed. During the summer holidays, kids eat free at the HAR bar just down the road, serving up scrumptious East Asian-inspired street food by Yuzu. Simply choose an adult meal from the tasty selection on offer and get one kids’ meal on the house, including mini katsu curry, egg fried rice and, of course, crispy chicken with chips.

Whether you book a table or walk-in on the day, it’s the perfect place for a quick bite before or after the show. Peruse the menu here.

4. Make yourself at home

We want you to feel comfortable in the theatre  like a home away from home! You can find toilets on all levels for those all-important loo breaks and a range of drinks and snacks on offer at the theatre bars.

You can even order straight to your seat before the show and during the interval using Preoday.

5. Be home before bedtime

The stage show is 2 hours 20 minutes long  shorter than the film!  and includes a 20-minute interval to grab an ice cream. There are plenty of day-time performances to choose from during the week and at weekends, plus evening shows that finish by half 9, meaning you’ll be out of the theatre while there’s still light in the sky.

The show is on until 1 August so perfect for an easy day out early in the summer holidays. Take a look at the full list of showtimes here.
