A vibrant blend of Highland tradition and modern folk, Breabach delivers Scotland’s most inventive sound.

Breabach, one of Scotland’s most unique contemporary folk groups, combine Highland and Island Gaelic roots with modern influences. Their sound blends double bagpipes, whistle, fiddle, step‑dance and vocals with driving double‑bass and guitar, creating energetic, genre‑bending performances.

Since winning the Danny Kyle Open Stage Award at Celtic Connections twenty years ago, the band have released eight critically acclaimed albums and earned six BBC ALBA Traditional Music Awards, a 2023 German Record Critics’ Award, and a finalist spot for European Folk Group of the Year in the Songlines Awards. Their past touring résumé includes venues such as the Sydney Opera House, Central Park, and the Royal Albert Hall, where they appeared in the Grand Ole Opry Live in London show.

Breabach’s collaborative spirit has seen them work with artists ranging from Quebec’s Le Vent du Nord and the Scottish National Jazz Orchestra to video‑game composer Big Giant Circles and country star Darius Rucker. Versatility, love of experimentation and a willingness to push the boundaries of Scottish roots music have endured as the core values of the band over the past two decades.

Breabach are:

Megan Henderson (Fiddle/Vocals/Step Dance)

Calum MacCrimmon (Highland Bagpipe/Whistle/Bouzouki/Vocals)
