Come and Sing: Mozart's Requiem Participant Tickets

Monday 16 February 2026

This event has passed.

Join us to perform Mozart’s Requiem as part of a massed choir, sitting in the auditorium of Leeds Grand Theatre and accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North and professional soloists.

Opera North’s Chorus Master, Tony Kraus, will be our conductor for the event. During the afternoon, there will be a piano rehearsal followed by a rehearsal with the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North. The day will culminate in a public performance that evening.

You don’t need to be an experienced choral singer to take part, but you do need to be able to read music – or to be able to pick up music by ear and follow along with a score.

Please note:

  • You will need your own copy of the score. We will be using the Mozart Requiem Bärenreiter / Süssmayr edition. Scores can be purchased directly from Bärenreiter via this link
  • Participant seating for the event is unreserved. Participants will be sat in groups according to their voice part and will be shown where to sit in the Stalls on the day. If you require wheelchair access or have any other Access requirements, please contact boxoffice@operanorth.co.uk before booking a ticket

FAQs

Which voice type am I?

Find out which voice type you are using our helpful guide.

Will I be expected to sing from memory for the final performance?

No, we do not expect participants to have memorised the music! You will be able to use your scores on the performance day.

I have a copy of the New Novello score – am I able to use this?

If you already have a copy of the New Novello version, it should be possible to use this – there will likely be some minor differences in details/articulation. Please note we will be preparing the Süssmayr version within this edition. We will prepare page numbers between the New Novello and Bärenreiter editions to tell you on the day, so it should be possible to use either version.

Is this project accessible?

Yes, if you have any access needs or requirements, please contact lifelonglearning@operanorth.co.uk and we will be happy to discuss with you.

Can friends and family come and see me perform in Leeds Grand Theatre?

Yes! Members of the public can purchase a ticket to the performance, Mozart’s Requiem which will be approximately one hour long under the baton of Chorus Master Tony Kraus and accompanied by the Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North with professional soloists.
