This event has passed.

The Opera North Winter Orchestra Academy is an immersive three days of ensemble training where school-aged musicians will be tutored by and play alongside members of the Orchestra of Opera North.

This academy focuses on the skills needed for playing in chamber ensembles using exciting and diverse repertoire chosen specifically to help develop skills in working effectively and musically, both as part of an instrumental section and a whole ensemble.

Young musicians will benefit from working closely with members of the Orchestra of Opera North, gaining in-depth insight into the relationships between the different sections of an orchestra, with a particular focus on how this differs in a chamber orchestra. Everyone will be appropriately challenged to develop within their technical and musical ability in an inspirational and supportive environment.

All sessions will provide the opportunity for feedback from professionals and peers alike, working in the new, purpose-built Bramall Education Studio at the Howard Opera Centre in the lead up to an exciting performance for family and friends.
