If you are attending a performance of Parsifal at Leeds Grand Theatre, you may like to consider ordering food and drinks for the longer interval in advance.

We have teamed up with Taste Catering to offer a limited number of delicious and convenient deli boxes, which will be served in Opera North’s new restaurant adjacent to Leeds Grand Theatre.

You can order a chicken deli box or a vegetarian deli box which comes served with side salads and with your choice of red wine, white wine, or orange juice.

Deli boxes must be ordered at least 10 days in advance of the performance you are attending.

When is the interval?

The dining interval during Parsifal will be at approximately 5.38pm and will last for 40 minutes. Please make your way back to your seats in Leeds Grand Theatre in good time for Act II. There is an additional 25 minute interval at approximately 7.26pm.

Where is the restaurant?

At stalls/ground level, the restaurant can be accessed by exiting the Leeds Grand Theatre and entering the restaurant via the Opera North Box Office at 36 New Briggate. Please ensure you retain your Parsifal tickets for re-entry to Leeds Grand Theatre.

From the dress circle, upper circle or balcony, you can enter the restaurant via the atrium next to the Howard Assembly Room, which will be signposted from the main staircase. There is lift access to all floors inside the atrium.

Can I bring food with me to the theatre?

Yes, you can bring cold picnic food into Leeds Grand Theatre for Parsifal performances:

  • All picnic style food must fit into a small bag, as large bags/rucksacks are not permitted inside Leeds Grand Theatre
  • Please only eat during the interval, not during the performance
  • Please do not bring drinks except for small bottles of water – please order your interval drinks at the Leeds Grand Theatre bars as usual
  • There will not be a cloakroom available, so please note that all belongings must be kept with you at all times
  • Be considerate of other audience members and our staff. Please do not bring hot or messy foods or those that may spark allergies.

Can I leave the theatre to eat?

Yes! Please be aware that the interval is 40 minutes long and will take place from approximately 5.38pm – 6.18pm. Please do return to your seats in good time for Act II, as latecomers may not be admitted until a suitable moment in the performance.

We would recommend contacting restaurants in advance to make sure that you can be served within the interval time frame. Please retain your Parsifal ticket with you as it will need to be checked and your bag will also be rechecked.
