Doric String Quartet

Thursday 3 November 2022

This event has passed.

Firmly established as one of the leading quartets of its generation, the Doric String Quartet receives enthusiastic responses from audiences and critics across the globe.

The award-winning musicians – Alex Redington (violin), Yume Fujise (violin), Hélène Clément (viola) and John Myerscough (cello) – have played at concert halls around the world including Amsterdam Concertgebouw, Louvre, Carnegie Hall and Kioi Hall Tokyo as well as regular performances at Wigmore Hall and we can’t wait to welcome them for an intimate performance, staging a conversation between Beethoven and his teacher Haydn.

Beethoven’s 1810 Quartet in F minor Op 95, full of experimentation and originally intended only for private performance, is followed by the third of Haydn’s ‘Prussian Quartets’. Beethoven’s Quartet in G Op 18/2 has the final word – but sparkles with witty imitations of his mentor’s work.

“…vivid and insightful interpretations that bristle with life and character…”
