A NEW SEASON IS COMING TO THE HOWARD ASSEMBLY ROOM

This Autumn, the Howard Assembly Room presents a packed season of international performance and special one-off events for Leeds including film, jazz, folk, world music, vocal recitals and chamber music. This season, the programme looks at the allure of immorality, inspired by Opera North’s production of The Coronation of Poppea - while the regular ‘Voices’ series focuses on a cappella vocal ensembles in very different contexts.

I GOT RHYTHM: YOUNG MUSICIANS OF IN HARMONY OPERA NORTH CELEBRATE A YEAR OF MUSIC MAKING

On Wednesday 9 July, the young musicians of In Harmony Opera North take to the concert platform at Leeds Town Hall, to demonstrate to family and friends how far they have come since the inspirational music education project began. They will perform alongside the world-class Orchestra and Chorus of Opera North, joined on this occasion by members of the City of Leeds Youth Orchestra.

OPERA NORTH ANNOUNCES FIVE NEW COMMUNITY PARTNERS

Opera North this week announces five new Community Partners in the Leeds area, as part of a major community engagement programme funded over five years by Paul Hamlyn Foundation. The five Community Partners are: Leeds Together Women;  Emmaus Leeds; Little London Arts; Leeds Irish Health & Homes; and the refugee & asylum seeker community in Leeds, working in collaboration with Meeting Point and RETAS

GÖTTERDÄMMERUNG: OPERA NORTH REACHES THE THRILLING CLIMAX OF FOUR-YEAR RING CYCLE

Opera North’s internationally acclaimed journey through Richard Wagner's Der Ring des Nibelungen reaches its overwhelming conclusion this June with Götterdämmerung. This Ring Cycle, staged in concert over the last four years, has seen Opera North’s music director Richard Farnes praised as “sensational” and the productions as “a triumph of scarcely imaginable proportions.”
